MONROVIA – Mighty Barrolle’s reign in Liberian basketball is over. The defending champions will miss the Liberia Basketball Association First Division finals for the first time in three seasons after falling to the NPA Pythons in a best-of-three semifinal series.
The Pythons clinched the series 2-1 with a 71-67 victory in Game 3 on Wednesday night at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Gymnasium.
The game stayed close throughout, but the Pythons pulled away in the final minutes to book their place in the 2025 championship round.
Barrolle forced the decider after winning Game 2, 73-63, but had dropped the opener, 69-66.
The Pythons will now face rivals LPRC Oilers in the best-of-five finals. The Oilers advanced with a two-game sweep of Spartacus, winning 61-47 on Friday and 56-49 on Sunday.
The finals promise a high-stakes showdown between two of Liberia’s basketball powerhouses, with the winner crowned the 2025 First Division champion and earning the right to represent Liberia at the FIBA Africa Club Championship.
