Unity Party Nimba youth secretary resigns, accuses leadership of neglecting loyal supporters

GANTA, Nimba – Printiss Domah, the Secretary General of the ruling Unity Party, Nimba chapter, has resigned, publicly criticizing the leadership of the party for sidelining loyal members in the distribution of job opportunities but prioritizing people who have no history of supporting the party.

In a bold move indicating growing discontent, SG Domah, on November 4, 2025, posted on his Facebook page to announce his resignation as Secretary General for Media and Publicity from a fundraising committee created by the party to manage fundraising activities for the launch and construction of a local headquarters for the Unity Party in Nimba County.

Printiss wrote: I just dropped the line with Senator Nyan D. Twayen, Jr. and he accepted my resignation as SG of the media and Publicity Committee of the UP-Nimba Fundraising Committee.

Domah’s resignation from the fundraising committee comes three days after he publicly criticized the UP-led government for awarding “lofty” consultancy contracts and lucrative jobs to opposition figures in Nimba County, who he [Printiss] said are on record for criticizing the Boakai-Koung government for doing nothing to change the system the UP heavily criticized while in opposition a few years ago.

According to Domah, opposition figures who are working in the government are undermining the administration’s efforts and using their positions to “channel” funds to their political parties instead of diligently serving the Liberian people who brought the UP government to power.

“You are awarding loft contracts and lucrative jobs to opposition figures in the county while ignoring loyal party supporters and expect us [partisans] to always remain loyal and committed to the party while those opposition figures you gave jobs to are channelling funds to their political parties”, Domah questioned.

Domah, appearing on a local radio talk show in Ganta expressed frustration over the UP’s failure to provide jobs and scholarship opportunities to deserving partisans in Nimba county who he said worked tirelessly to ensure the party’s victory in 2023.

“It is disheartening to see dedicated partisans being abandoned while positions and opportunities are handed to people who openly worked against us,” he stated. “Our members are demoralized, and the spirit of commitment that once defined our movement is fading.”

According to sources close to the Youth Wing, the Secretary General’s decision to step down from his media and publicity duties for the upcoming fundraising event was a symbolic gesture to protest what he called the party’s “neglect of the party’s loyal frontliners.”

According to Domah, the situation of “neglect” has caused a serious feeling of discomfort among young partisans of the party in Nimba and it is only fair for him as one of the leaders of the party to speak out.

“We’ve been patient enough and we must speak now. The honeymoon period is over. Our young people who were there to ensure that this party gets elected in 2023 must benefit instead of people who have openly stated that nothing has changed under this administration”, the UP-Nimba chapter SG stressed.

 Though he did not state the names of key opposition figures that are “reaping the labour” of loyal UP partisans, sources close to Domah has hinted that keen among opposition figures benefit from contacts and jobs in Nimba county is Cllr. Lawrence Sua, the newly elected Vice Chairman for Planning and Strategy of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) who is said to be hired by Nimba county Superintendent, Kou Meapeh Gono as Lawyer for the Nimba County Council.

Sources close to the party say the leadership has been grappling with growing discontent among young members, many of whom feel sidelined despite their active role in the party’s 2023 campaign activities with some opening declaring support of Domah’s recent move.

Efforts to reach the party’s Nimba County Chairman, Mr. Nelson Beangar, who also serves as the Director General of the Center for National Records and Documentations Agency (CNDRA), proved unsuccessful as our calls went unanswered at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General has reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s ideals despite resigning from the fundraising committee, emphasizing that his actions were driven by a desire to see every loyal member of the party benefit.
