The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) has plunged into internal crisis following an explosive Facebook Live broadcast by its former USA/Canada Diaspora Chair, Madam Grace Guar, who has threatened to sue the party and its political leader, Musa Hassan Bility, over what she calls false and defamatory claims about her resignation.
Guar: “I Built Your Party, Don’t Use My Name”
In her impassioned online address, Madam Guar accused Mr. Bility of spreading what she described as “lies and wicked fabrications” that she resigned because of financial disagreements.
“You are a wicked man for telling people there’s a financial issue between Grace and Bility,” she declared. “I left your party with money in your bank account. Don’t use my name for your mess, or I will sue you. I registered your party here in America.”
Guar said her decision to step down stemmed from disorganization and a lack of accountability in the party’s leadership. She accused Bility of centralizing power and making unilateral appointments while sidelining other executives.
“Professionally, I don’t know how to do things out of order,” she lamented. “There’s no order in the party. Your executives can’t even talk. Everybody’s just there to eat. I was the only one who came with a clean heart to help you.”
Allegations Against Global Chair: “She Lacks Leadership Ability”
In one of the sharpest points of her outburst, Madam Guar took aim at the party’s Global Chair, Dr. Francien Chenoweth Richardson, accusing her of incompetence and withholding key financial reports. “Even your so-called Dr. Francine never sent you her report,” Guar charged. “She used party money and never accounted for it. When asked for information, she argued. I have all the screenshots in the chatroom.”
Guar further alleged that Dr. Richardson and Bility were complicit in concealing her resignation letter, which, according to her, contains detailed reasons for her departure.
“They’re holding my resignation letter. They don’t want to tell the people why I resigned because they know what I wrote,” she asserted. “Your global chair doesn’t have any leadership ability. Even the letter she wrote me begging me to come back, I’ll expose it on Facebook.”
“I Don’t Need Your Money” Guar Defends Integrity
Madam Guar strongly denied any claims of financial misconduct, insisting that her service to the CMC was driven by patriotism, not personal gain.
“I didn’t take a dime from your party,” she emphasized. “I live in a 3,000-square-foot home and drive a 2025 BMW. I don’t need your money. My lawyer already has your bank account information. If I hear my name in any financial issue again, I will sue this party in America.”
She accused Bility of allowing gossip and manipulation to drive his leadership decisions, adding that her initial belief in his vision for Liberia had been shattered.
“After I built your party, you started to use people at your waist. You let gossip lead you. You forgot even the political laws you now use — I made that banner. I helped with your ideology. You never paid me a cent.”
Bility Calls for Calm: “This Storm Will Pass”
Responding hours later, CMC Political Leader Musa Hassan Bility issued a calm and conciliatory statement urging party members to remain disciplined and avoid public confrontation.
“Once again, I have listened to a video from Grace tonight,” Bility acknowledged. “She has said a lot. This is a crucial moment for our party. I ask everyone, please remain calm. Do not respond.”
While recognizing her contributions as USA Chair, Bility expressed disappointment over the personal attacks directed at the party’s Global Chair.
“Grace served our movement with dedication, and we appreciate that. However, I am deeply concerned that our Global Chair has been unfairly insulted,” he said. “Leadership comes with attacks, and I understand that. Let us stay calm. This is only a storm, and like every storm, it will pass.”
Growing Questions Over Party Discipline and Transparency
The public confrontation comes amid growing scrutiny over internal leadership tensions within the CMC. Madam Guar’s departure, initially described by the party as a routine resignation, now appears to reveal deep rifts over governance and accountability.
Political observers say the episode risks damaging the image of a movement that has branded itself as a symbol of discipline, respect, and change.
Madam Guar, a respected U.S.-based human rights advocate and founder of the Legacy Holding Foundation, played a central role in the CMC’s early diaspora mobilization efforts. Her threat to take the party to court could mark a defining test of the organization’s internal cohesion and its commitment to the democratic ideals it espouses.
