PAYNESVILLE — Youth and Sports Minister Cornelia Kruah met with Lone Star head coach Mohamed Adil Erradi on Wednesday to discuss Liberia’s campaign to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

The meeting, held at the minister’s office, focused on strategies and preparations aimed at returning Liberia to Africa’s premier football tournament for the first time since 2002.

Kruah said the discussions centered on developing a comprehensive plan to secure qualification and reaffirmed the government’s full support for the national team.

“Qualifying for AFCON requires commitment from all stakeholders,” she said. “The government remains fully supportive of the national team’s efforts.”

Erradi thanked the minister for her confidence and pledged to do everything possible to guide the Lone Star to success, saying he remains committed to building a competitive team capable of earning a place at the continental showpiece.

The Lone Star has begun training at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex ahead of international friendly matches against Sierra Leone on June 6 and June 9. The matches will give the coaching staff an opportunity to evaluate players and strengthen the squad ahead of the qualification campaign.
