YEKEPA, Nimba County — All 41 students from the ArcelorMittal Liberia school system who took the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination passed, giving the company’s high school in Yekepa a 100% pass rate for the second consecutive year.
The results, released by the West African Examinations Council, cover the 2025-2026 academic year. The school’s graduating class recorded the same result in 2024-2025, a repeat the company said points to sustained institutional support rather than a single strong year.
Charlesetta Harris Peters, head of social services at ArcelorMittal Liberia, said the outcome belongs to everyone who worked toward it.
“This outstanding performance demonstrates AML’s continued commitment to providing quality education for the dependents of its employees and children from surrounding communities,” Peters said. “We are extremely proud of our students and grateful to the teachers, administrators, parents, and management whose collective efforts contributed to this success.”
Peters said a perfect pass rate required discipline and determination from the students, backed by careful preparation, consistent classroom instruction, effective school leadership and encouragement from parents and guardians.
Investing in teachers, not just buildings
ArcelorMittal Liberia said its support for education is part of a wider investment in training and human resource development, and that classrooms and equipment alone do not produce results. Schools also need capable teachers, effective administrators, adequate learning materials and systems that push for continuous improvement, the company said.
Through its school system, the company said it works to strengthen the capacity of teachers and administrators, supports professional development and promotes instructional practices intended to lift both teaching and learning. Training aims to improve lesson delivery, classroom management, student assessment, and preparation for national and regional examinations, while administrative development focuses on school planning, performance monitoring, accountability, and the coordination of academic programs.
The company said it regards education as a long-term investment in Liberia’s workforce, and that supporting teachers now widens the opportunities available to the students who come after this year’s class.
What the results mean for the graduates
Peters said the results give the 41 graduates a foundation for whatever comes next, whether university, technical and vocational training, entrepreneurship or other career paths, and put them in a stronger position to contribute to Liberia’s workforce.
The company said the achievement also reflects collaboration. While the students sat the examinations alone, their preparation was carried through the year by teachers, school administrators, families and company personnel working to hold a standard.
ArcelorMittal Liberia congratulated the graduating class and said it will continue building human capacity through education, employee development, professional training and opportunities for continuous learning.
