Monrovia — The Arcadia Soccer Academy, founded by former Liberian international striker Arcadia M.W. Toe, has launched full operations in Brewerville’s G-4 Community, aiming to train young footballers from Liberia and across West Africa.
Established in 2018, the academy has quietly trained children ages 5 to 16 for more than six years. Toe, who played for Liberia’s national team in a 2006 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mali, said the academy was designed to provide holistic development for young athletes.
The facility includes two football pitches — one for 5v5 matches for children ages 5 to 10, and another for 7v7 games for players ages 11 to 16. It also features dressing rooms, a VIP stand, and a sports store offering affordable equipment to schools and clubs nationwide.
Beyond athletics, the academy offers a modern gym, dormitories for boys and girls, a communal lounge and a player entertainment center. Apartments on-site are available for rent, with one floor currently occupied by Upper Women’s League club World Girls FC.
Vocational and creative training is also part of the curriculum. A salon allows girls to learn hairdressing, and a live recording studio supports children interested in music.
Toe said the academy offers two enrollment options. A weekend program, priced at $433 annually, runs Friday through Sunday and includes lodging, meals, schooling, transportation, soccer training and medical care. A residential program, set to begin in the coming weeks, will cost $1,700 per year.
“We are open to students not just from Liberia but from across West Africa to develop and educate them for tomorrow’s journey,” Toe said.
Former national team defender George Gerbo has been appointed technical director of the academy.
Toe encouraged parents to make use of the program and called on clubs to make use of facility for player camps during the league season, noting that guest housing is available for rent.
“The guest house is for rent to clubs, and like World Girls is doing, others can do business with us for the season or a week before their game by camping their players here,” he said.
