MONROVIA — Defending Liberian champions FC Fassell continued their sluggish start to the 2025-26 LFA First Division season, settling for a 1-1 draw against Brought FC on Matchday 3 at the D. Tweh Sports Pitch.
Former Liberia international Varmah Kpoto has enjoyed a bright start to his coaching career, guiding LISCR FC to three consecutive victories. The Shipping Boys came from behind to defeat Bea Mountain FC 2-1 at the Gompa Stadium in Ganta, Nimba County.
Fassell entered Wednesday’s match after a weekend loss to Wologisi FC and again struggled early, allowing Brought to control much of the first half. Despite generating several chances, Brought failed to convert, leaving the teams scoreless at the break.
Fassell improved after halftime, and forward Delton Kollie broke the deadlock in the 70th minute with a close-range finish. But Fassell’s hopes of securing their first win at the venue in four matches were dashed late when a defensive error led to a penalty. Brought goalkeeper Emmanuel Toe stepped up and converted from the spot to level the match.
The draw leaves Fassell winless in two straight matches following their narrow opening-day victory over Heaven Eleven at the SKD Practice Pitch in Paynesville.
Some supporters voiced frustration with head coach Amir Alagić’s defensive setup, blaming the team’s lack of attacking urgency on his tactical approach.
“Our first coach was far better than this new man who only defends from start to end,” one fan said.
LISCR FC remains the only team with a perfect record after three rounds and sits atop the 14-team table.
In the Paynesville derby, Watanga FC edged Paynesville FC 1-0 at the SKD Annex, moving to seven points from three matches.
At Tusa Field, Downtown FC earned their first top-flight victory, defeating Discoveries SA 1-0 with a first-half goal from Myers Swen. Discoveries remain winless.
In the late kickoff at Tusa Field, LPRC Oilers failed to protect an early lead, allowing Wologisi FC to equalize.
In Buchanan, Black Man Warriors cruised to a 3-0 win over Gardnersville FC, handing the visitors a heavy defeat on the road.
The league continues this weekend with Matchday 4 fixtures across the country.
