WASH Commission hosts retreat to boost efficiency

Monrovia – The National Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Commission has commenced its three-day Annual Retreat, aiming to bolster the institution’s framework for a productive and impactful fiscal year.

The retreat, which began on Monday, centers on critical institutional priorities, including the Annual Work Plan, Human Resource Policy, and Asset Management Control. These focus areas are expected to strengthen the Commission’s operational efficiency and strategic alignment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, George Yango, Chief Executive Officer of the WASH Commission, underscored the significance of the retreat in aligning the Commission’s strategic objectives with the National Development Plan.

“This retreat is designed to ensure that all of our initiatives are streamlined and in line with the government’s broader vision for national development,” Yango stated.

He also highlighted the necessity of inter-agency collaboration, revealing that the WASH Commission is actively engaging with key partners such as the Civil Service Agency (CSA), the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

“This partnership is vital to achieving our objectives and delivering results that directly impact the lives of Liberians,” he added.

The retreat brings together senior management and staff of the WASH Commission for interactive sessions, workshops, and discussions. These activities are designed to enhance institutional efficiency, improve policy implementation, and elevate service delivery standards.

According to the WASH authorities, the three-day event underscores the Commission’s commitment to fostering transparency, accountability, and sustainability in its operations. This commitment is part of the Commission’s broader mandate to ensure access to safe water, improved sanitation, and better hygiene practices across Liberia.

The National Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Commission is Liberia’s lead agency for promoting equitable access to water and sanitation services.
