Beijing — Senator Francis Saidy Dopoh II has launched what many residents are describing as one of the most ambitious industrial development initiatives in the recent history of River Gee County, with two 40-foot containers currently en route from China to Liberia carrying equipment intended to power a new era of economic growth and infrastructure development in the county.
The shipment represents the first major execution phase of Senator Dopoh’s River Gee Ten-Year Development Plan, a long-term strategy designed to transform the southeastern county through industrialization, job creation, youth empowerment, and expanded access to basic services.
According to project organizers, the incoming containers carry a range of industrial and construction equipment that will be used to establish a factory and production hub in the Gbeapo area on five acres of land located in CLC Pronoken. The site is expected to become a central pillar of economic activity in the district once operations begin.
Among the key facilities planned for the project are a wagon station intended to improve transportation and logistics, high-capacity brick-making machines capable of producing more than 4,000 bricks daily, borehole drilling equipment aimed at improving access to safe drinking water, a sawmill and woodworks store for the processing of local timber resources, and a welding shop that will provide fabrication and technical services.
Project leaders say the initiative is not merely a construction project but part of a broader vision to build a self-sustaining local economy capable of supporting long-term development and reducing dependence on imported materials and outside labor.
The initiative is expected to generate significant employment opportunities across the county. Organizers estimate that more than 300 direct jobs will be created through the factory and related operations, while an additional 1,000 indirect jobs could emerge through transportation services, local businesses, supply chains, construction work, and community-based economic activities linked to the project.
The individual selected to oversee implementation of the project described the responsibility as both an honor and a major commitment to the people of River Gee. According to the project lead, the development demonstrates a shift away from political rhetoric toward practical investments capable of improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
“This is about creating opportunities for young people and ensuring that River Gee can stand alongside counties such as Nimba and Montserrado in terms of growth and economic potential,” the implementer stated. “We are building the foundation for future generations.”
Residents and supporters of the initiative have welcomed the announcement, expressing optimism that the project could help address long-standing challenges related to unemployment, infrastructure, and limited industrial activity in the southeastern region.
Observers note that industrial projects of this scale are rare in many rural counties and could have far-reaching implications for regional development if successfully implemented. By focusing on local manufacturing, construction materials, wood processing, and technical services, the initiative aims to stimulate economic circulation within the county while also creating opportunities for skills training and entrepreneurship among young people.
The arrival of the containers is expected to mark the beginning of on-the-ground activities under the ten-year development plan, signaling what supporters believe could be a transformative period for River Gee County and its future economic trajectory.
