Rep. Benson Launches Fund Drive to Support Vulnerable Children

Published: October 26, 2026

MONROVIA — Montserrado County Electoral District 17 Representative Bernard Blue Benson Jr. has launched a fundraising initiative through his BLUE Foundation to support education and healthcare services for underprivileged children across Liberia.

The fund drive, launched over the weekend, seeks to mobilize financial and material assistance to improve access to education and essential healthcare, particularly for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those living with disabilities.

Less than 24 hours after launching the initiative, Benson celebrated his birthday with children at the Liberia School for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb, drawing attention to the challenges facing children with disabilities and the need for greater support.

The lawmaker’s visit formed part of activities highlighting the foundation’s objectives, which include expanding educational opportunities, improving access to healthcare and providing assistance to vulnerable children.

During the celebration, Benson spent time with children at the institution, using the occasion to draw attention to their educational and social needs.

The BLUE Foundation, established by the District 17 lawmaker, intends to use proceeds from the fundraising initiative to support educational and healthcare interventions for disadvantaged children.

The foundation has not disclosed a fundraising target or the amount raised so far, but the initiative is expected to mobilize contributions from individuals, organizations and other potential supporters.

Children living with visual, hearing and other disabilities often require specialized learning materials, appropriate healthcare services and accessible educational facilities to participate fully in school activities.

The foundation’s planned interventions are intended to help address some of these needs while expanding opportunities for children facing economic and physical challenges.
