MONROVIA — Liberia Football Association Third Vice President and Women’s Representative Jodie Reid-Seton has called for greater female representation in football leadership after attending the 2026 FIFA World Cup final as the country’s official representative.
Reid-Seton represented Liberia and Liberia Football Association President Mustapha I. Raji at football’s biggest event, joining FIFA Legends, FIFA Council members and presidents of football associations from around the world.
Following the final, she described the tournament as the most inclusive edition of the FIFA World Cup and said it underscored the growing role of women in shaping the future of the game.
“The World Cup was an extraordinary celebration of football and a clear demonstration of how the game continues to embrace inclusion,” Reid-Seton said.
She thanked LFA President Mustapha I. Raji for the opportunity to represent the federation at the tournament.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Mustapha I. Raji for the distinct honor and opportunity to represent him at the World Cup final,” she said.
Reid-Seton said increasing women’s participation in football administration, governance and competition is critical to the sport’s continued growth. She added that empowering women not only promotes equality but also inspires more girls to pursue leadership roles in football.
She also described the World Cup final as more than a sporting event, saying it demonstrated football’s unique ability to unite people from different cultures while advancing inclusion and gender equality.
Her participation at the final reflects Liberia’s growing involvement in international football governance and the Liberia Football Association’s ongoing commitment to promoting women in leadership.
Reid-Seton said football remains a powerful platform for bringing nations together and creating opportunities for future generations of women leaders.
