Congo Town – Liberia Football Association (LFA) President Mustapha Raji has appointed defeated Executive Committee candidate Ivan G. Brown and longtime associate Dr. Ousman Tall as co-opted members of the Executive Committee.
The appointments were approved during the committee’s second meeting on June 25, 2026, at LFA headquarters.
Brown, one of two incumbent Executive Committee members who lost their seats at the May 15 Electoral Congress, retained his position as chairman of the Technical and Youth Development Committee. Tall will serve as the committee’s co-chair.
The appointments were made under Article 45.1 of the LFA statutes, which was amended by delegates at the association’s 2022 Ordinary Congress. The amendment grants the LFA president the authority to appoint two additional Executive Committee members.
Under the statutes, co-opted members have the same rights as elected Executive Committee members. The amendment was intended to allow the inclusion of individuals with expertise not represented on the elected committee to strengthen the operations of the LFA Secretariat and the Office of the President.
Brown’s appointment has drawn criticism from some football stakeholders.
Rochell Woodson, who lost the election for third vice president — a position reserved for women — questioned the decision, arguing it undermines the will of the delegates who voted against Brown.
“That’s a shame and an insult to appoint someone the stakeholders chose not to elect when there are others who can do the job,” Woodson said in a social media post.
Woodson, a former LFA Executive Committee member, also argued that Brown should not chair a standing committee because, in her view, such committees should be led by elected Executive Committee members in line with the LFA statutes and FIFA and CAF regulations.
At its first meeting, the Executive Committee also confirmed the reappointments of First Vice President Sekou W. Konneh and Second Vice President Saye-Taayor Adolphus, both of whom were elected during the May 15 Congress.
The Executive Committee also approved appointments to several standing and ad hoc committees, including: Statutes and Judicial Codes Review Committee, Amateur Football Committee, Bid Evaluation Committee, Technical and Youth Development Committee and Referees Committee.
