KAKATA, Margibi — Police in Margibi County are investigating a deputy police commander in Wohn, Gibi District number five, Sgt. Emmanuel Dolo, over allegations that he raped a seven-month-pregnant woman while she was in custody.
The alleged victim, a 24-year-old woman, told The Liberian Investigator that the incident occurred after she was taken to the Wohn police station on Saturday, March 14, following a dispute with her boyfriend.

According to the woman, the dispute began when she struck her boyfriend three times with a stick during a fight. Her boyfriend subsequently took her to the police station. She said her brother and other relatives later volunteered to guarantee her appearance the following day, but Sgt. Dolo allegedly insisted that she remain in police custody overnight.
The woman said she was given an office at the station to sleep in. Later that night, she claimed Sgt. Dolo came to check on her and told her the room was not safe for sleeping, instructing her to move to another room nearby.
“While I was lying down and almost asleep, he came and lay behind me and started touching me in a way I didn’t like,” the woman alleged. “I told him, ‘Uncle stop, I don’t like what you are doing to me,’ but he continued.”
She further alleged that the officer then forced a bedspread into her mouth and assaulted her.
“He stuffed the cloth in my mouth and choked my neck while raping me,” she said. “I later found myself at the clinic and didn’t even know how I got there.”
According to the woman, when she regained consciousness at the Wohn clinic, nurses questioned how she had been brought there. She said the officer allegedly attempted to persuade medical staff to release her into his custody, but the nurses refused because of her pregnancy and concerns about possible medical complications.
The woman said she has since been experiencing trauma and claims she has also faced threats and public insults from some community members who accuse her of fabricating the allegations.
She further disclosed that she fell off a motorcycle on Sunday while being transported to Kakata, though details about that incident remain unclear.
When contacted, Margibi County Acting Police Commander Arthur Jarvey confirmed that Sgt. Dolo has turned himself in and is currently under investigation.
Jarvey said the officer has denied the allegations.
“He has denied raping the woman, but the investigation is ongoing,” Jarvey said. “Once all the details surrounding the matter are gathered, the public will be duly informed.”
The acting commander also noted that medical records that could help establish the circumstances of the alleged assault are still pending due to the ongoing holiday.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
