MONROVIA — The National Housing Authority has announced a nationwide homeownership conference set for May 20 at Monrovia City Hall, bringing together government institutions, housing developers, financial partners and prospective buyers to discuss concrete pathways to affordable homeownership for ordinary Liberians.
The Off-Takers Conference 2026, themed “From Renting to Owning — Your Journey Starts Here,” is designed to give prospective homeowners direct access to housing information, financing options and government-backed support systems. The NHA said it marks the first time future homeowners, referred to as off-takers, will be directly engaged in the national housing conversation. “We are showing Liberians practical and achievable pathways to owning affordable homes,” the authority said.
The conference will present participants with three primary acquisition options: cash sales, mortgage financing and rent-to-own arrangements. Attendees will receive guidance on qualifying for housing opportunities and accessing flexible payment arrangements intended to make homeownership a structured possibility rather than an aspiration beyond reach for most income earners.
The NHA said the event is targeted at a broad cross-section of Liberians, including market women, commercial motorcyclists, civil servants and young professionals. The authority emphasized that collaboration between government, developers and financial institutions is essential to addressing Liberia’s housing deficit and reducing long-term dependence on rental accommodation.
“If you earn, you can own,” the NHA said. “Don’t rent forever — own your future.”
