MONROVIA — Monrovia City Mayor John-Charuk Siafa on Tuesday toured the newly established Compliance Center of Golden Touch Corporation, commending the company for transforming a once-neglected site into a growing business hub and reaffirming the Monrovia City Corporation’s commitment to supporting small and medium-sized enterprises in the capital.
Mayor Siafa made the stop during his routine municipal compliance patrol, visiting the facility located near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he met with the company’s chief executive officer, Cassandra Hampton, and staff.
The mayor said he was encouraged by the development of the Compliance Center on land that residents previously used as a dumping site. The facility now hosts a fast-food café, delivery services and a one-stop center designed to help residents navigate government regulatory processes.
“This is exactly the kind of private-sector initiative the city wants to see,” Siafa said after touring the premises and adjoining property. “Turning abandoned or misused spaces into productive commercial zones improves sanitation, creates jobs and strengthens the local economy.”
He urged the company to continue developing the surrounding beachfront area, noting that sustained private investment could help rebrand neglected corridors of the city into viable economic zones. As part of the city’s support, Siafa pledged to assist with opening drainage lines around the property to address flooding and sanitation challenges that have long affected the neighborhood.
Golden Touch Corporation’s CEO welcomed the mayor’s visit, thanking the city for its engagement and calling for closer collaboration between the municipal authority and small businesses operating in Monrovia.
“We appreciate the mayor’s time and the encouragement,” Hampton said. “Ongoing support from the city is critical for businesses that are investing locally and trying to provide legitimate services to the public.”
According to company officials, the Compliance Center is designed to streamline access to a range of public and quasi-public services that often require residents to visit multiple offices. Services offered include passport application and renewal, visa processing, business registration and renewal, driver’s license services, birth certificates and identity management.
The center also provides assistance with mining licenses, export facilitation, work and residence permits, tax clearance and filing, and general business compliance services.
Company representatives said the model is intended to reduce delays, cut informal costs and help both individuals and businesses meet regulatory requirements more efficiently.
Golden Touch Corporation, which describes itself as a 100 percent Liberian-owned enterprise, has built its brand around business facilitation and management services. Its leadership says the Compliance Center reflects a broader effort to formalize services that are often fragmented across government institutions.
City officials accompanying the mayor said the visit aligns with the administration’s broader push to encourage private investment that complements municipal goals, including improved waste management, land use compliance and economic revitalization.
Mayor Siafa said the city would continue its compliance patrols while working with businesses that demonstrate a willingness to operate within the law and contribute positively to Monrovia’s development.
“When businesses take the initiative to clean up spaces, comply with regulations and serve the public, it becomes the city’s responsibility to support and protect that investment,” he said.
The Compliance Center has begun operations and is expected to expand services as demand grows, company officials said.
