Monrovia – The Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), James Dorbor Jallah, has commended the Authority’s Communication, Media and Public Affairs (CMPA) Section for strengthening public awareness and elevating the LRA’s national and international visibility.
The CG spoke on Friday (March 13) during the CMPA’s three-day Strategic Communication Retreat that introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to modernize taxpayers and institutional communication.
CG Jallah described communication as a critical pillar of effective revenue administration, noting that the work of the CMPA team continues to play an important role in building public trust and supporting the Authority’s domestic revenue mobilization efforts.
“The CMPA team has been very vibrant and instrumental in ensuring that the work of the LRA is recognized both nationally and internationally,” Commissioner General Jallah said. “Effective communication is essential in strengthening public awareness, building trust, and supporting our overall revenue performance.”
The retreat brought together representatives from key operational departments of the LRA whose work intersects with communication, taxpayer engagement, and policy dissemination.
Participating units included the Taxpayer Services and Processing Department (TPSD), Customs Department, Domestic Tax Department, Management Information Systems Division (MISD), Internal Audit, and other operational sections.
Held under the theme “Strengthening CMPA’s Strategic Positioning, Collaboration and Digital Communication in 2026,” the retreat served as a platform for departments to review existing communication systems, strengthen collaboration, and identify practical strategies to improve information flow and coordinated institutional messaging.
A major highlight of the retreat was specialized training in Artificial Intelligence and digital communication tools, facilitated by communication and digital strategy expert Bethel Chisom Anthony. The session introduced participants to emerging AI technologies that can enhance research, content development, media monitoring, and the timely dissemination of information to taxpayers and stakeholders.
According to LRA Manager for the Communication, Media and Public Affairs Section, Danicius Kaihenneh Sengbeh, the introduction of AI training reflects the Authority’s commitment to keeping pace with global digital transformation.
“Artificial Intelligence training was deliberately selected because the LRA and its communication section cannot afford to stay behind in the digital world, especially at a time when management is making significant investments in automation and digitization,” Mr. Sengbeh said. “More than ever,” he added, “we need AI in strengthening and improving our work. We can’t afford to be left behind.”
Mr. Sengbeh emphasized that stronger coordination between departments will improve the flow of institutional information and strengthen the Authority’s ability to communicate effectively with taxpayers and stakeholders. “That is why we have brought all of you here together so we can all define a practical way not just to improve external communication, but a strong internal communication process,” he noted.
The retreat concluded with several key outcomes, including stronger collaboration between CMPA and operational departments, improved understanding of institutional communication needs, and renewed commitment to coordinated messaging that supports taxpayer education and voluntary tax compliance.
The CMPA Strategic Retreat forms part of the Liberia Revenue Authority’s broader efforts to strengthen institutional communication, promote transparency, and support the Authority’s mission of domestic resource mobilization and national development in Liberia.
