Liberian-Owned P&D Electric Opens in Paynesville, Taps Diaspora Investment Drive

PAYNESVILLE, Montserrado County — A Liberian-owned security technology firm, P&D Electric, has officially opened operations in Paynesville, specializing in electric fencing solutions for homes and businesses, as part of a growing push to attract diaspora investment into the country.

The company’s launch aligns with calls by Joseph N. Boakai for Liberians living abroad to return and contribute to national development through private enterprise and job creation.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by Erasmus T. Williams, Liberia’s coordinator for diaspora affairs, who praised the company’s establishment as a practical response to the government’s appeal.

“This is the kind of investment Liberia needs—one that creates jobs, builds skills and responds to real security needs,” Williams said, urging other Liberians in the diaspora to follow suit.

He commended Forkpa N. Wilson, chief executive officer of P&D Electric, for choosing entrepreneurship over employment abroad.

Wilson, a Liberian returnee from the United States, said his decision to establish the business at home was driven by a desire to create opportunities for others.

“I wanted to come back and build something that employs Liberians rather than look for a job,” he said.

P&D Electric has partnered with Nemtek, a South African firm with more than 30 years of experience in electric fencing technology, to support operations and skills transfer.

As part of the partnership, Nemtek trained 60 Liberians last year in the installation, operation and maintenance of electric fencing systems, according to company officials.

The collaboration aims to ensure local technical capacity while delivering reliable security solutions tailored to Liberian conditions.

Demonstrations by Nemtek technicians were held during the launch event, showcasing fencing systems designed for residential, commercial and institutional properties.

The event drew representatives from the Paynesville City Mayor’s Office and other stakeholders, reflecting local government support for private-sector-led security and employment initiatives.

Company officials said P&D Electric intends to expand services beyond Paynesville as demand grows, positioning itself as a contributor to improved property security and workforce development.
