MONROVIA — South Sudan Premier League champions Jamus SC have completed the signings of Liberian internationals Sebastian Teclar and Morris Jegbay Konneh, strengthening their squad ahead of domestic and continental competitions.
The duo joined Jamus SC from LISCR FC and FC Gar’ou, respectively, and have signed three-year contracts that will keep them in Juba until 2029.
Their arrival follows the December appointment of Ethiopian coach Wubetu Abate, who briefly led LISCR before parting ways with the Liberian champions after just two weeks, citing family reasons. He joined Jamus SC shortly afterward, and the recruitment of Liberian players — particularly Konneh, who was on loan at LISCR — suggests the transition was anticipated by the Monrovia-based club.
Teclar, 25, was a central figure at LISCR and earned national team call-ups with the Liberia national football team under coach Mario Marinica. Since joining LISCR in 2021, he won four major trophies, including two FA Cups and two LFA Super Cups.
“LISCR Football Club can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Jamus SC for the transfer of Sebastian Teclar,” the club said in a statement. “Everyone at LISCR would like to thank Sebastian for his dedication, commitment and contribution to the club’s success over the years. We wish him the very best in the next chapter of his career.”
Konneh’s career path has been less straightforward. In February 2025, the midfielder took legal action against South African Premier Division side TS Galaxy over six months of unpaid wages. Although signed at the start of the 2024–25 season, paperwork issues prevented him from making a competitive appearance. After escalating the matter to FIFA, the governing body later ruled in his favor and ordered the club to settle the outstanding payments.
The latest moves mirror a growing trend of Liberian players breaking into East African football. Last year, Emmanuel Flomo and Kindness Cole joined Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman, with Flomo, 18, scoring eight goals in 10 league matches. Al Hilal are currently competing in the Rwandan Premier League due to ongoing conflict in Sudan.
Jamus SC claimed the South Sudan Premier League title last season with 68 points from 26 matches, winning 21 games and drawing five. Kator FC finished second with 62 points, while El Merriekh SC Bentiu placed third with 58.
The club has carried that momentum into the current campaign, lifting both the Super Cup and the Zain South Sudan Cup. Jamus SC will represent South Sudan in the CAF Champions League and the CECAFA Kagame Cup.
The addition of the experienced Liberian pair is expected to bolster Jamus SC’s push to defend its domestic crown and make a competitive showing on the continental stage.
