MONROVIA – Liberian sports journalists Anthony Kokoi and James B. Sillah have successfully completed the West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A Media and Marketing Workshop.
The seminar was held in Conakry, Guinea, from April 4–5, 2025.
Kokoi currently serves as Acting Media Manager at the Liberia Football Association (LFA), while Sillah is a Media Officer at the local football governing body.
The duo were among 23 media and marketing officers from the nine WAFU Zone A Member Associations (MAs) who participated in the two-day capacity-building workshop.
The training included both theoretical and practical sessions, aimed at strengthening the skills of media officers—particularly in relation to their roles and responsibilities within CAF and WAFU media operations.
CAF media and marketing experts Mondher Chaouchi from Tunisia and Alieu Goloko from Senegal facilitated the workshop.
The LFA extended its heartfelt appreciation to WAFU Zone A for organizing the initiative, emphasizing its value in enhancing staff capacity and aligning with the Association’s broader goal of developing football at all levels.
A statement released by WAFU Zone A said:
“It was a unique opportunity to share experiences and build strong relationships for the future of West African football. A big thank you to the Guinean Football Federation and the Guinean government for their warm welcome and unwavering support.”
Since Kokoi’s appointment as Acting Media Manager, the LFA has experienced notable growth and improvements in its branding efforts both locally and internationally.
The association’s presence on social media has reached new heights, with timely updates on league fixtures, tables, top scorers, and more.
The quality of graphics, photos, and videos has significantly improved. Kokoi, who began his sports writing career at the Daily Observer, continues to receive praise from football fans for his hard work and dedication.
