Monrovia- Former Lone Star midfielder Kelvin Sebwe has opened his tenure at LISCR FC with back-to-back victories, lifting the club to the top of the Liberian First Division table.
Sebwe, appointed interim head coach two weeks ago, secured a 3-1 win over struggling Jubilee FC on Saturday to move the “Shipping Boys” to 35 points — three clear of second-place Watanga FC.
Goals from Prince Varfley, Armah Vaikainah and Christopher Jackson sealed the victory. Sebwe’s first match in charge ended in a 2-0 win over Gardnersville FC, a strong start that has quickly positioned LISCR as a title contender despite his short-term mandate for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
LISCR scores 21 goals, concedes 13 in 16 matches this season.
Kelvin Sebwe, a CAF A License holder, brings experience at both club and international levels. He was reappointed head coach of Invincible Eleven in 2023 and led the club to the 2023-24 Orange Cup final, where they lost to Paynesville FC. However, the following season proved difficult, with Invincible Eleven relegated during the 2024-25 campaign.
He has also served as deputy coach of the Liberian national team and previously managed the men’s under-20 side, gaining experience in youth development and international competition.
Elsewhere, second-place Watanga FC fell 1-0 to LPRC Oilers, leaving them with just one point from their last two matches. The victory lifted Oilers to sixth place with 26 points from 16 games.
Meanwhile, big-spending Bea Mountain, guided by Turkish coaches, climbed to fifth place with 27 points after a 3-0 win over Wologizi FC on Match Day 16. Freeport FC’s struggles continued with a 2-0 defeat to Discoveries SA on Saturday.
