Paynesville — GoGo Fitcamp, a U.S.-based organization founded by Emmanuel G. Kollie, recently held a one-day open training camp at the Samuel Kanyon Doe (SKD) Sports Complex. The event aimed to promote fitness among coaches, football players, and the broader Liberian community
Emmanuel G. Kollie, a professional fitness trainer based in the United States, has been championing health and wellness among Liberians for several years. The training camp, hosted voluntarily, represents Kollie’s way of giving back to the community where he was born and raised.
During the event, participants received free training merchandise, and meals were provided at no cost. This act of generosity underscores GoGo Fitcamp’s dedication to encouraging a healthier lifestyle within the community.
Speaking with The Liberian Investigator after the training on Saturday, December 14, 2024, Kollie expressed his satisfaction with the program’s outcome. “Our mission is to foster the holistic development of young athletes through the beautiful game of football and to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where players of all backgrounds can thrive both on and off the field,” he said.
Kollie also shared that during their short visit to Liberia this year, they had the opportunity to train both the senior national football team and the women’s national team.
Participants lauded the organizers for their efforts and recommended that the program be held monthly to enhance fitness across the nation. They also called for the decentralization of the initiative to reach people in other parts of the country.
Founded in 2015 by two Liberians based in the United States, GoGo Fitcamp is a non-profit organization committed to training coaches, players, trainers, and young people. The initiative seeks to promote fitness, combat illnesses, and build a healthier future for Liberians.
