ACCRA, Ghana — Diplomats and ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Liberia have praised the country’s improving investment climate and renewed commitment to economic diplomacy, describing Liberia as an emerging destination for foreign direct investment during the just-ended High-Level Diplomatic Investment Forum hosted by the Embassy of Liberia in Accra, Ghana.
The forum, held June 26, brought together ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, international business leaders, development partners, and senior Liberian government officials to showcase investment opportunities, strengthen economic cooperation, and promote Liberia as a preferred investment destination in West Africa.
Opening the forum, Liberia’s Ambassador to Ghana, Musu Jatu Rhule, described the gathering as a strategic initiative aimed at repositioning Liberia in the global investment market.
“Liberia is open for business and prepared for partnerships that will accelerate growth, create jobs, and foster sustainable development,” Ambassador Rhule said. “Our government remains committed to strengthening policies that encourage transparency, investor confidence, and economic transformation.”
She said Liberia’s abundant natural resources, youthful population, democratic governance, and expanding sectors—including agriculture, tourism, fisheries, energy, and technology—offer significant opportunities for international investors seeking long-term partnerships.
Participating diplomats commended the Liberian government for organizing what they described as a timely and forward-looking platform to deepen economic diplomacy and strengthen regional cooperation.
Several ambassadors cited Liberia’s peaceful democratic transition, ongoing business reforms, and strategic location along the West African coast as factors that continue to improve the country’s attractiveness to foreign investors.
“Liberia’s commitment to regional integration and economic openness sends a positive signal to the international community,” one participating ambassador said. “Forums such as this are essential in building trust and encouraging long-term partnerships.”
Another diplomat emphasized the critical role of diplomatic missions in advancing economic cooperation.
“Diplomatic missions are not only political partners but also economic bridges,” the ambassador remarked. “Today’s discussions demonstrate Liberia’s willingness to collaborate globally while advancing national development goals.”
Officials representing key Liberian institutions used the forum to present sector-specific investment opportunities and explain the incentives available to prospective investors.
Representatives of the Liberia Revenue Authority assured participants that the government continues to strengthen the country’s fiscal environment and investment protection framework.
During a panel discussion, tax and investment experts highlighted incentives available under Liberia’s investment laws.
“Our investment laws provide guarantees and incentives that protect investors and encourage long-term economic partnerships,” one presenter said.
The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority, the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), the Liberia Tourism Authority (LTA), and the Liberia Business Association also showcased investment prospects in their respective sectors while encouraging stronger collaboration between government and the private sector.
The chairperson of the Liberia Tourism Authority Board described Liberia as “one of West Africa’s untapped tourism treasures,” highlighting the country’s eco-tourism potential, rich cultural heritage, pristine beaches, and coastal attractions as major opportunities for international investors.
Participants also emphasized the importance of sustained policy reforms, infrastructure development, public-private partnerships, and regional collaboration in accelerating Liberia’s economic transformation and attracting quality investment.
The High-Level Diplomatic Investment Forum forms part of the Liberian Embassy’s broader economic diplomacy agenda to strengthen bilateral and multilateral partnerships, attract new investment, promote trade, and position Liberia as a competitive destination for sustainable business and economic growth in West Africa.
