Monrovia – Deputy Minister Prince Tambah of the Ministry of Public Works has responded to allegations of internal conflict and accusations of undermining Minister Roland Giddings’ authority. He asserted his commitment to the Ministry’s goals and dismissed the accusations as unfounded.
The controversy came to light following the President’s inclusion of the Deputy Minister on the recent FOCAC trip, much to the displeasure of the Minister proper.
It can be recalled that the President’s decision stemmed from the fact that Tambah is the Deputy Minister for Technical Services. He was served the letter while Minister Giddings was in the United States prior to the trip.
After the FOCAC, Minister Giddings issued a formal warning last week to his deputy, accusing Deputy Minister Tambah of “gross insubordination.”
Some pundits analyzed the warning letter as Giddings’ attempt to detach his deputy from the activities of the Presidency.
However, Deputy Minister Tambah denied any wrongdoing and stated his dedication to the Ministry’s objectives. “My focus remains steadfast on advancing the infrastructure projects critical to our nation’s development. The allegations of unproductive conduct are not only baseless but are distractions from our real work,” Tambah stated.
Appearing on a local radio show on Wednesday, Deputy Minister Tambah acknowledged the challenges confronting the road sector due to the rains and attributed the situation to the impacts of climate change, which has increased precipitation levels in some regions of the country. He reassured that his actions are always in alignment with the Ministry’s standards and objectives.
He called for unity and professionalism among his colleagues, urging them to prioritize the Ministry’s mandate over personal differences and attacks.
