Court Orders NEC to Vacate Sinkor Property, Restores Ownership to Marshall Family

MONROVIA — The Sixth Judicial Circuit Court for Montserrado County has ordered the National Elections Commission to vacate a contested property on 9th Street, Sinkor, handing a decisive legal victory to the estate of the late Francis Marshall.

Resident Judge Peter W. Gbeneweleh delivered the judgment April 13 in a summary proceeding to recover possession of real property, ruling in favor of the Marshall estate, represented by Administratrix Mai Thompson and family member Godwin Marshall. A Writ of Possession was issued Tuesday to enforce the ruling.

Assistant Clerk of Court Daniel Y. McGill directed the Sheriff of Montserrado County to immediately evict the NEC and all occupants operating under its authority from the premises and restore possession to the Marshall family without delay. The sheriff is required to report back to the court upon execution.

The ruling ends what the family described as years of legal uncertainty over a property they regard as part of their heritage.
