PAYNESVILLE — Prince Lewis had made Liberia’s 16-man squad for an international friendly in Ghana, then nearly lost his place to a ticket no one bought. Bea Mountain Football Club has now covered the cost, putting the young midfielder back on the trip with his teammates.
Nathan F. Reeves, who runs the Charity Foundation school Lewis represents, confirmed that the Tebeh Football Academy product will travel after Bea Mountain FC agreed to pay his fare. Lewis was the only player caught by the error, named to Coach Terry Sheriff’s squad but left behind when tournament organizers failed to buy his ticket.
He is expected to join his 15 teammates in Ghana, where the Nathan F. Reeves Charity Memorial High School side is preparing for a friendly against Ashanti Region champions Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School, known as OKESS, on Friday.
The Liberian delegation left Paynesville on Thursday for Kumasi after the school’s win in the 2025-26 National High School Sports Cup. Nathan F. Reeves took the title by beating Buchanan Open Bible Standard School in the final at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in March. The squad has also been strengthened by Ralph Weah and Alvin Kollie, whose clubs cleared them to travel.
Nathan F. Reeves becomes only the second Liberian high school to play an international football engagement in Ghana. Worldwide High School of Monrovia was the first, after winning the inaugural National High School Sports Cup.
The National High School Sports program, established in 2017, has used athletics to promote education and boost school enrollment across Liberia.
For Lewis, the club’s intervention means an administrative mistake will not keep him from wearing his school’s colors alongside his teammates abroad. He is the son of former Mighty Barrolle midfielder Little Lewis.
