MONROVIA — The Ministry of Health has begun distributing additional medical equipment and essential supplies to health facilities across Liberia in a renewed effort to strengthen maternal, newborn and child health services and improve healthcare delivery nationwide.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Sept. 22, the ministry said the Government of Liberia procured the latest consignment through the Ministry of Health and is dispatching it from the Central Medical Store in Montserrado County.
According to the ministry, the equipment and supplies are intended to “complement the ongoing quarterly drug distribution” and strengthen health facilities’ capacity to deliver essential medical services.
The consignment covers a range of healthcare needs, including maternal and newborn care, pediatrics, diagnostics, surgery, anesthesia, critical care and other specialized interventions.
The ministry said the distribution is intended to give healthcare workers additional tools and resources to deliver timely, quality services to patients.
Particular attention is being placed on women, newborns and children, with equipment and supplies expected to support health facilities providing maternal and pediatric care.
The ministry said the latest exercise forms part of its broader efforts to improve the availability of essential medical supplies and strengthen service delivery at health facilities across the country.
The distribution comes alongside the ministry’s quarterly medicine supply, as health authorities work to ensure facilities have the drugs and equipment needed to meet patients’ healthcare needs.
