BOSTON, USA – Former Montserrado County Electoral District #13 representative candidate Ayoubah G. Dauda Swaray has formally declared his membership in the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), marking a decisive break from the National Development Party (NDP) in what observers describe as a notable political shift.
In a formal letter addressed to CDC Secretary General Jefferson T. Koijee, Swaray announced that his decision takes immediate effect and follows what he described as “careful consideration and consultation” with family members and trusted associates.
Swaray framed the move as part of a broader commitment to national development, democratic governance, and the preservation of public trust.
“My membership in the CDC is grounded in the party’s enduring ideological resilience, its dedication to democratic principles, and its consistent representation of the aspirations of the Liberian people, both at home and in the diaspora,” he stated.
A Strategic Shift
The former District #13 candidate praised the CDC as a people-centered institution — “of the people, by the people, and for the people” — noting that the party has maintained its relevance and credibility within Liberia’s evolving political landscape.
Political analysts say Swaray’s defection could signal shifting alliances ahead of future electoral contests, particularly as parties reposition themselves domestically and within the diaspora.
Swaray emphasized that his decision was voluntary, made in good faith, and intended for official, legal, and historical record. He requested formal acknowledgment and documentation of his declaration by the CDC.
CDC Yet to Respond
As of press time, the CDC had not issued an official response confirming receipt or acceptance of Swaray’s membership declaration.
