MONROVIA, Liberia — Star Bet Liberia, a leading sports betting company operating in the country, over the weekend donated 34 bags of rice and a cash contribution to the Elwuo Orphanage Home in what the company described as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts to support vulnerable children.
The donation is intended to help meet the basic needs of children and staff at the orphanage, which provides care for children who are orphaned, abandoned or without family support.
The rice will provide short-term nutritional support, while the cash contribution is expected to assist with daily operating costs and other essential expenses.
Company Pledges One-Year Teachers’ Salaries
Beyond the food and financial assistance, Star Bet Liberia also committed to covering the salaries of teachers at the orphanage for an entire year — a move aimed at easing administrative and operational pressures.
Star Bet Liberia Country Manager Mr. Brian Nkuruh, who presented the items, emphasized that the company views community engagement as central to its mission.
“Our mission goes beyond business — we are part of this community, and we believe in lifting each other up,” the representative said, adding that corporate social responsibility remains a core value of the company’s operations.
He said the company will pay each teacher salary for the entire year, noting that the gesture will help reduce the constraints faced by the orphanage administration.
Orphanage Expresses Gratitude
Receiving the items, Mother Eleanor Y. Wuo, administrator of the Elwuo Orphanage Home, expressed appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and impactful.
She said contributions of this nature play a significant role in ensuring the well-being and development of the children under the institution’s care.
Mother Wuo also called on other corporate entities and individuals across Liberia to support similar initiatives aimed at improving the lives of disadvantaged children.
She noted that Star Bet Liberia’s gesture reflects a broader trend of private sector involvement in social welfare efforts, particularly in addressing food insecurity and supporting vulnerable communities.
