MONROVIA – Benedict Y. Harleyson will oversee administrative operations at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning after the Liberian Senate confirmed him Monday as deputy minister for administration, filling the post left vacant by Bill McGill Jones’ move to the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs.
The confirmation followed a hearing before the Senate Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, where senators reviewed Harleyson’s qualifications and administrative record. He told the committee he plans to strengthen administrative management, improve operational systems and support the government’s economic development agenda.
Senators cited his experience in public administration and financial management before voting to confirm the appointment.
As deputy minister for administration, Harleyson will oversee the ministry’s personnel management, logistics and institutional support functions, a role central to the operations of the government’s lead agency for economic planning and fiscal management.
Jones has assumed the equivalent post at the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs.
