Monrovia – Representative Emmanuel Dahn of Montserrado County District 7 has announced plans to upgrade the District Seven Skill Training Center into a fully accredited degree-granting college.
Speaking during the institution’s sixth graduation ceremony over the weekend in Monrovia, Dahn revealed that he would soon request a parcel of land from the Liberian government to establish a permanent campus for the proposed college.
His vision is to expand the center’s academic offerings, creating more opportunities for skill development and higher education within the district. Addressing concerns about financial constraints, he reassured students and the broader community that the institution would not shut down, emphasizing his commitment to sustaining its operations.
“The District 7 Skill Training Center has played a pivotal role in equipping young Liberians with practical skills to improve their livelihoods,” Dahn said. “We remain committed to ensuring its growth and transformation into a full-fledged college.”
At the graduation ceremony, 920 students received certificates after successfully completing training in various disciplines, including soap science, journalism, electricity, and cosmetology. Many of the graduates expressed optimism that the skills acquired would enhance their employability and financial independence.
Parents of the graduates commended Dahn for his vision, noting that the training programs had significantly prepared their children for the job market. They lauded his efforts in empowering young people through vocational and technical education, which they believe is crucial for national development.
