Monrovia – Prof. Sumo Kupee, who served as Lofa County Senator from 2006 to 2014 has passed away.
As the Chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, and later the Finance and Development Planning Committee, Prof. Kupee was instrumental in securing vital funding for key institutions. His collaborative efforts with figures like Moses Y. Kollie and other members of the Lofa Legislative caucus ensured the allocation of resources to community radio stations, hospitals, and public institutions which have greatly benefitted from his advocacy.
Prof. Kupee’s tenure at the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC) as Managing Director, and his subsequent role as the Board Chairman of the National Port Authority (NPA), were marked by his steadfast commitment to economic improvement and infrastructure development. He played a vital role in drafting the Public Financial Management Law and revising the investment incentives code to foster economic revitalization and poverty reduction in Liberia.
