MONROVIA — Liberian international defender Prince Balde has signed with Swedish club Trelleborgs FF on a two-year deal, ending his stint in Norway ahead of the upcoming season.
Balde, 27, joins Trelleborgs from FC Rosengård, where he made 47 appearances in Ettan, Sweden’s third tier, over the past two seasons. A central defender, he has earned 21 caps for Liberia’s senior national team. His most recent international outing came Nov. 15, when he played the full 90 minutes against Guinea.
“Signing for Trelleborgs FF feels like the right step for me, and I think the club’s ambitions suit me well,” Balde said in a statement. “I’m looking forward to getting started, training with the team and giving everything for the club badge.”
Born and raised in Monrovia, Balde began his career with Monrovia Club Breweries before embarking on a nomadic professional journey that took him across Asia, Europe and the Middle East. His previous clubs include Champasak Avenir in Laos; FC Feronikeli 74, KF Drenica and FC Drita in Kosovo; and Al-Diwaniya SC in Iraq.
In Kosovo, Balde made more than 80 top-division appearances. During the 2022–23 season, he featured for FC Drita in UEFA Conference League qualifiers, helping the club eliminate Finland’s FC Inter before their campaign ended against Belgium’s Royal Antwerp.
“I’ve gained a lot of experience throughout my career and have had the honor of representing my national team,” Balde said. “That experience has helped me grow as a player and as a person, and I’m ready to bring it to Trelleborgs FF.”
Trelleborgs FF announced Balde as a key addition to its men’s squad for the coming season.
The club competes in Superettan, Sweden’s second-tier league. Trelleborgs has appeared 17 times in Allsvenskan, the country’s top flight, and once competed in the UEFA Cup, famously eliminating England’s Blackburn Rovers during the 1994–95 campaign.
