The Liberian Chess Federation (LCF) is back on track after the Ministry of Youth and Sports stepped in to resolve leadership disputes, reinstating Thomas Karyah as president.
This resolution follows a period of misunderstandings and internal conflicts that had disrupted the federation’s operations.
Thomas Karyah, who had previously resigned, was reinstated after multiple meetings involving government officials and chess partners aimed at addressing the challenges within the LCF.
The intervention sought to restore order and ensure the smooth functioning of the federation, which plays a vital role in promoting and developing chess in Liberia.
Karyah’s return has been met with widespread approval from the chess community, who see his leadership as key to bringing stability and direction to the organization.
In a statement, Karyah expressed his gratitude for the confidence placed in him by the government and chess stakeholders. He pledged to work tirelessly to develop chess in Liberia and ensure the federation operates with transparency and inclusivity.
“I am back for good, and together we will all develop chess in Liberia,” he said.
