US Embassy Monrovia — The management of OK FM on Thursday honored outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Liberia, Mark Toner, and his wife with traditional gowns, recognizing what the station described as a “bond of friendship” fostered during his diplomatic service in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the institution, OK FM Manager Clarence Jackson commended Ambassador Toner for his selfless service and strong engagement with the Liberian media.
Jackson noted that Ambassador Toner frequently appeared on OK FM during his tenure, using the platform to explain the U.S. Embassy’s work and its continued support to Liberia.
“Ambassador Toner has been a true friend of OK FM and the Liberian people,” Jackson said. “Even as you transition into private life, we urge you to keep OK FM in your thoughts.”
In response, Ambassador Toner praised OK FM as one of the most professional and impactful radio stations in Liberia. He expressed deep appreciation for the honor and encouraged the station to continue its efforts in promoting national development through credible journalism.
“Thank you Clarence and thanks to OK FM for the job you do. I am really happy for this kind gesture on behlaf of me and my wife, we say thank you. I will present it to her immediately when I get home,” Amb Toner said.
The brief but heartfelt ceremony was also attended by OK FM’s Editor of News, Trokon Wrepue, who joined Jackson in presenting the traditional attire to the ambassador and his spouse.
