Nimba — A devastating road traffic accident claimed three lives in the early hours of Thursday morning along the Ganta–Saclepea Highway.
Quoting officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) assigned in the area, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 6:00 a.m. near the CMC Junction. According to police, the crash involved a red truck loaded with cement, traveling from Monrovia toward Saclepea.
Preliminary police findings indicate that the truck, driven by 36-year-old Sarh J. Folleh of Montserrado County, lost control while navigating a deep curve and plunged into a nearby valley in what authorities have described as a self-accident.
At the time of the crash, five individuals were reportedly onboard. Police confirmed that three adult males tragically died on the spot, while the driver and one surviving passenger sustained injuries. The injured victims were rushed to E&J Medical Hospital in Ganta, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described a horrifying moment as the heavily loaded truck veered off the road, leaving little chance for those seated at the back.
Medical personnel pronounced the three victims dead upon arrival, and their bodies have since been deposited at the Gompa Funeral Home pending identification and notification of next of kin.
The Liberia National Police says a full-scale investigation is ongoing to establish the exact cause of the accident, though early indications point to loss of control in a high-risk curve zone.
