KAKATA, Margibi County — Police in Kakata are investigating a Nigerian pastor and schoolteacher following allegations that he sexually abused a 17-year-old member of his congregation, resulting in a pregnancy that was later terminated.
The suspect, Ernest Ihejiemeounu, is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with the minor and subsequently providing her with LRD 12,000 to facilitate an abortion, according to family members of the girl.

Relatives said the teenager recently fell ill and disclosed the alleged abuse to her parents. They further claimed she told her mother and neighbors that this was the second time she had terminated a pregnancy allegedly linked to Ihejiemeounu.
Ihejiemeounu serves as a pastor at a local church and also teaches Geography at the government-run Lango Lippaye School in Kakata.
The Liberian Investigator has obtained an audio recording in which the teenager alleges that Ihejiemeounu took her virginity and instructed her to keep the relationship secret. Police have not publicly confirmed the authenticity of the recording or stated whether it forms part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities in Kakata confirmed that the matter is under investigation but declined to provide further details, citing the sensitivity of the case and the involvement of a minor.
Attempts to reach Ihejiemeounu for comment were unsuccessful as of press time.
The case has heightened concerns among residents over the protection of minors in religious and educational settings, particularly where authority figures are involved.
Police said additional information would be released as the investigation progresses.
