The maiden edition of the Monrovia Madness All-Star Community Basketball Tournament has been postponed to April 16, 2025.
Originally scheduled to kick off at the SKD Gymnasium in Paynesville on April 3, 2025, the tournament is being organized by Vision Basketball, through its Chief Executive Officer, Jacob Kabakollie.
The event will bring together basketball teams from 10 communities in Monrovia and its surrounding areas. The participating communities include Logan Town, Duport Road, New Kru Town, Sinkor, Barnersville, Brewerville, ELWA, Gardnersville, Central Monrovia, and Old Road.
The four-day tournament is expected to open with a musical concert. In addition, four old-timer basketball teams and two female teams have been invited to play exhibition matches before the official opening ceremony.
According to the tournament’s rules and regulations, each participating community is required to feature one foreign player, provided the player is a resident of that community.
Meanwhile, Kabakollie, who chairs the tournament, announced that the winning community will be awarded a mini basketball court to be constructed by Vision Basketball.
“This year’s tournament champions will earn the prestigious honor of having a newly built community basketball court named after a legendary figure who has significantly impacted basketball development,” he stated.
“Our goal is to revitalize the essence of competitive basketball—showcasing emerging talents and promoting unity among both active and inactive young players,” he added.
The tournament will conclude with a special Award Ceremony and Dinner Night.
