Misleading: Viral Brawl Video Is Not Related to Ramadan Celebration in Liberia

Following the celebration of the end of Ramadan, also known as Eid al-Fitr, on March 20,  Yekeh Kolubah blog shared a video claiming that heavy fighting had broken out at the home of Lusinee Kamara, political leader of the All Liberia Coalition Party (ALCOP).

According to the blog, the altercation involved two brothers disputing over a woman, with one accusing the other of having an extramarital relationship with his wife.

The video shows a group of men, believed to be of the Islamic faith, engaged in a physical fight.

The Claim

He wrote in Koloqua (Simple Liberian English): “Happening Now! Heavy fwettin na open here in Lusinie Kamara yard in Caldwell. Reports have it that a young man was caught with his big brother 2nd wife, Aminata, at the back of the fence…. this spike out a confrontation that led to fighting between supporters of both parties.”

Rating Justification

To verify this claim, we conducted a Google reverse image search and found that the video had appeared online much earlier. On August 1, 2025, approximately eight months ago, the video was first published online.

The footage was first posted by a Tanzanian comedian, Waziri Amiri, with a Hausa caption translated as: “Daughter of God, remember us.” No additional context was provided about the incident.

The same video was later shared by a Facebook user, Fannon Themor, based in Nairobi, Kenya, on September 14, 2025. This user also shared no information about the video.

Additionally, the video has been shared by many across Africa on various social media platforms, as seen here, here, and here.

Conclusion

Based on these findings, we conclude that the video posted by Yekeh Kolubah’s blog claiming that it was a fight in the home of Lusinee Kamara is misleading.

There is no evidence that the incident occurred in Liberia or in the home of Mr. Lusinee Kamara. Reverse image search shows that the incident did not occur in Liberia.
