MONROVIA – The Government of Liberia–supported Recovery of Economic Activity for Liberian Informal Sector Employment (REALISE) Project has recorded strong participation and enrollment across its four counties covered by the unconditional Cash Transfers during its recent beneficiary registration and selection exercise, reaffirming the project’s commitment to inclusive economic recovery and livelihoods support.
According to official data from the exercise, the REALISE Project set an overall target of 16,000 beneficiaries. Registration efforts exceeded expectations, reaching 16,525 applicants. Following a transparent enrollment process, 13,023 individuals were successfully enrolled, while 3,502 applicants did not meet the final eligibility requirements due to a lack of identification, which is a minimum requirement for enrollment. The exercise covered 22 districts, 39 clans and 529 communities, demonstrating the project’s wide geographic reach.
In Grand Bassa County, the project targeted 7,800 beneficiaries and registered 7,467 applicants. Out of these, 6,084 individuals were enrolled, while 1,383 were not selected. Implementation in the county spanned 5 districts, 13 clans, and 361 communities, making it the county with the largest coverage under this phase of the project.
Grand Kru County recorded a target of 2,100 beneficiaries, with 2,250 individuals registered. A total of 1,771 beneficiaries were enrolled, while 479 applicants were unsuccessful. Activities in the county covered 5 districts, 10 clans and 38 communities.
In Rivercess County, registration significantly exceeded the target of 2,600, reaching 3,294 applicants. From this number, 2,435 beneficiaries were enrolled, while 859 applicants were not selected. The exercise in Rivercess was conducted across 3 districts, 6 clans and 84 communities. Similarly, River Gee County recorded 3,514 registrations against a target of 3,500. Out of this figure, 2,733 beneficiaries were enrolled, while 781 applicants did not qualify. The county-wide process covered 9 districts, 10 clans and 46 communities.
Speaking on the outcome of the exercise during a staff meeting, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Hon. Gbeme Horace-Kollie praised the REALISE Project for its inclusive approach and focus on vulnerable populations.
“The REALISE Project continues to demonstrate government’s commitment to empowering vulnerable women and men across Liberia. By reaching communities at the grassroots level, this initiative is helping families rebuild livelihoods, strengthen resilience, and participate meaningfully in economic recovery,” the Minister said.
The REALISE Project, implemented by the Government of Liberia with support from development partners, aims to improve income opportunities for vulnerable households through cash grants, business support, and skills development.
