KINJOR, Grand Cape Mount County – A team of geologists and mining engineers from the Ministry of Mines and Energy has commenced a compliance inspection of Bea Mountain Mining Company’s underground mining facilities in Grand Cape Mount County. The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the company adheres to Liberia’s mining laws and regulations.
Bea Mountain, a Class ‘A’ mining operator and the largest industrial gold mining company in Liberia, operates under a Mineral Development Agreement (MDA). The inspection focuses on the conditions of the company’s mines and the alignment of operational processes and procedures with the provisions of the Minerals and Mining Law. Mines being assessed include Kinjor, Larjor, Marvoe, DdaBlama, and Weajue.
According to the Ministry’s press release, the technical assessment will evaluate geophysical, geotechnical, and geological conditions at the mines. Additionally, the inspection aims to assess the health and safety measures in place and ensure that operations are consistent with plans submitted to the Ministry.
Leading the inspection team is Deputy Inspector-General for Mines, Adolphus Gleekai, who stated that compliance monitoring is a routine activity conducted at all mining companies. He emphasized that these inspections are vital for maintaining proper sector regulation, bolstering investor confidence, and enhancing revenue generation to support Liberia’s national development programs.
The Ministry of Mines and Energy reiterated its commitment to promoting accountability and sustainability in Liberia’s mining sector.
