The Football Association has fined Everton forward Martin Sherif £5,000 ($6,600) for breaching its betting rules.
The 20-year-old admitted to causing, permitting, or enabling 61 bets on football matches between Nov. 20, 2024, and Feb. 12, 2026, in breach of FA Rule E1.2.
Sherif, who was born in Liberia, said he did not personally place any of the bets, which totaled nearly £2,000 ($2,600), but acknowledged that they were made through betting accounts in his name.
An independent regulatory commission considered his prompt admission of guilt, cooperation with the investigation, and what it described as his “genuine remorse” before deciding not to impose a suspension.
Sherif joined Everton’s youth academy in 2019 at age 13 and began training with the first team in early 2025. He has yet to make his senior debut.
The Netherlands youth international spent last season on loan at Rotherham United and Port Vale, scoring four goals in 24 total appearances. He scored twice in 17 League One appearances for Port Vale as the club was relegated.
