Harper, Maryland County – As Harper City prepares for the much-anticipated “Marylander Returns to Your Roots 2025” festival, the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has stepped forward with a substantial contribution to support the city’s ongoing sanitation campaign.
The company’s donation—consisting of a tricycle, ten wheelbarrows, twenty shovels, and thirty cutlasses—comes at a crucial time as the city works to improve its waste management capacity ahead of the large-scale cultural event expected to draw Marylanders from across Liberia and the diaspora. During a brief handover ceremony, Harper City Mayor Abraham B. Jackson expressed appreciation to LPRC for what he described as a meaningful intervention in the city’s sanitation drive. He said the equipment would directly bolster the Harper City Corporation’s efforts to keep the city clean and presentable, especially with increased activity and visitor traffic anticipated in the months ahead.
Mayor Jackson noted that Harper’s waste disposal challenges require ongoing support from national institutions and partners. He stressed that initiatives like LPRC’s donation align with the city’s commitment to creating a healthier environment for residents and to boosting Harper’s image among visitors attending the 2025 festival. The mayor, who recently returned from national engagements in Monrovia, highlighted that the city’s current sanitation efforts connect to broader national development goals, especially the Boakai-Koon AREST Agenda, which emphasizes accountability, recovery, environmental cleanliness, and community well-being.
City authorities state that the new tools will be implemented immediately across various communities, improving daily cleaning routines and empowering workers to respond more effectively to waste management needs.
