Lofa County University Unveils New Curriculum, Expands to Zorzor with Fessibu Annex

VOINJAMA, Lofa County – Lofa County University has completed a full review of its academic programs and opened a new annex in Zorzor District as it began the 2026/2027 academic year on September 14, 2026.

The administration announced the development on Tuesday, September 15, describing it as a major step toward aligning LCU with national standards and international best practices.

The curriculum review was conducted through a one-week workshop led by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Adama Gross, and his Deputy, Augustine Manjoe Ngafuan, along with faculty and administrators.

According to the University, the new curriculum will guide all academic programs for the next few years and is intended to strengthen quality and relevance as society, technology, and labor market demands rapidly change.

“A university cannot remain static,” the administration said.

In a related development, LCU has confirmed the opening of its Fessibu Annex in Zorzor, aimed at bringing university education closer to young people in lower Lofa who previously struggled to access higher education in Voinjama.

The administration said interest in enrollment at the annex is already high, but acknowledged that expansion will require additional faculty, facilities, and student services.

This institutional progress comes amid a mixed academic report. Three students – Clarence J. Gogbason (Agriculture), Richard S. Wolobah (Engineering), and Esther Finda George (Teachers College) – earned a perfect 4.0 GPA last semester, while 27 students were suspended and 102 warned for poor performance. Nine additional cases of alleged educational malpractice are under review.

The administration said all affected students will undergo mandatory counseling and urged the entire University community to uphold discipline and academic integrity as the new semester begins.
