Monrovia – The Inaugural and Transitional Committee of the Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has officially announced its readiness for the induction ceremony of the association’s newly elected officials.
Speaking on behalf of the committee during a news conference on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Monrovia, Cllr. Elisha T. J. Forkeyoh revealed that significant preparations have been made to ensure a smooth transition and a colorful and successful induction of the new leadership.
On November 30, 2024, the LNBA held elections in Ganta City, Nimba County. Following the elections, the National President of the association constituted the committee on January 13, 2025, to organize activities leading to the induction of the newly elected officers and to ensure a seamless transition.
The newly elected officials include:
- Cllr. Bornor Vamah, National President
- Cllr. F. Juah Lawson, National Vice President
- Cllr. Elisha T. J. Forkeyoh, Secretary General
- Atty. Yamie Williams, Treasurer
“At this stage, we are pleased to inform the media and the public that all is now set for the inauguration of the new leadership of the LNBA next Friday, January 31, 2025,” Cllr. Forkeyoh stated.
He disclosed that the formal inauguration will take place at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town and will be immediately followed by an inaugural dinner at the same venue.
The committee also announced that Liberian President Joseph N. Boakai is expected to deliver the keynote address. This marks the first time a sitting president will serve as a guest speaker for the association’s inauguration.
Additionally, Cllr. Forkeyoh noted that Liberia’s Chief Justice, Sie-A-Nyene G. Yuoh, will administer the oath of office to the new officials.
“The event is expected to be attended by members of the diplomatic corps, senior government officials, the Chief Justice and Justices of the Supreme Court of Liberia, circuit judges, magistrates, and over 500 lawyers from Liberia and abroad,” he emphasized.
The committee added that it is working diligently to finalize logistical and resource mobilization arrangements for the historic occasion.
Invitation Extended to Richard Koon as Speaker
The committee also disclosed that an official invitation has been extended to Richard Nagbe Koon, Speaker of the 55th National Legislature, to attend the program.
“As we all know, Richard Koon is the Speaker because elections were held. Whether or not the election is legitimate is not for us to decide,” the committee remarked.
