MONROVIA — LISCR FC has appointed former Liberian international Kelvin Sebwe as interim head coach, handing the veteran midfielder-turned-coach the task of stabilizing the Shipping Boys for the remainder of the 2025–26 season.
The club confirmed the appointment Sunday on its official social media platforms, saying Sebwe will serve on a short-term basis until the end of the campaign.
Sebwe becomes the sixth coach hired by LISCR in less than two years, underscoring a period of turbulence that has raised concerns among supporters about the club’s management and long-term direction.
Sebwe Brings Club, National-Team Experience
Sebwe, a CAF License A holder, has coached at both club and national levels. In 2023, he was reappointed head coach of Invincible Eleven, leading the team to the 2023–24 Orange Cup final, where it lost to Paynesville FC.
The following season, Invincible Eleven struggled and was relegated during the 2024–25 campaign.
Sebwe has also served as deputy coach of the Liberian national team and previously managed the men’s under-20 side, experience that includes youth development and international competition.
A Club in Flux
LISCR’s repeated coaching changes have unsettled supporters and fueled questions about internal decision-making.
During the 2024–25 season, Nigerian coach Oladeinde Babatunde, Liberian coach Theophilus Geekor and Gambian manager Tapha Manneh each took charge at different points.
Ahead of the 2025–26 season, Belgian coach Alain-André Landeut was appointed but departed before the campaign began after overseeing preseason preparations.
In November 2025, Ethiopian coach Wubetu Abate was hired following an interim stint by former Liberian international Vamoh Kporto. Abate left earlier this month after about six weeks in charge, triggering another shift on the bench.
Growing Questions Over Stability
The constant turnover has sparked speculation about administrative and financial pressures inside the club. For a team owned by Liberia Football Association President Mustapha I. Raji, the ongoing instability in the technical area has become a growing concern for fans and football observers.
Sebwe’s appointment is being viewed as an attempt to restore order and provide continuity through the remainder of the season.
LISCR’s immediate focus is improving results and rebuilding confidence among players and supporters. Sebwe now faces the challenge of tightening discipline, delivering performances and laying a foundation for longer-term stability.
But questions remain. With six coaches in less than two years, LISCR’s revolving-door technical leadership continues to cloud the club’s ambitions and direction.
