Monrovia – A New Day Media Development & Social Justice Organization successfully hosted a one-day youth workshop on August 17, 2025, at the House of Grace Parish, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Congo Town, Monrovia.
Originally designed for 20 participants, the workshop drew more than 20 enthusiastic youth who actively engaged in interactive sessions addressing Liberia’s ongoing drug crisis. The program combined prayer, teaching, and hands-on group exercises, empowering participants to reflect on their role in ending the scourge of drugs within their communities.
The day began with an opening prayer and welcome remarks by Parish Pastor
Emmanuel, followed by an overview of A New Day and the workshop introduction by Mrs. Nehemattu Wankollie, who co-facilitated alongside Priscilla Mah-Belloh, Founder and Lead Facilitator of A New Day.
Throughout the workshop, participants worked in groups to draft slogans for peaceful protests, craft letters to lawmakers and community leaders, and discuss policies and advocacy strategies. They were also challenged to create personal action steps and plans for their youth ministries to remain actively engaged in the fight against drugs.
“Our young people are not just the future – they are the present. Their voices and actions are vital in ending Liberia’s drug epidemic and building resilient communities,” said Priscilla Mah-Belloh, Founder of A New Day.
The workshop highlighted the importance of history, justice, and accountability in addressing Liberia’s drug crisis, with moments of silence held for lives lost and those still struggling.
The overwhelming turnout and active participation demonstrated the youth’s strong commitment to advocacy, healing, and community transformation. A New Day reaffirmed its commitment to continue engaging communities and holding leaders accountable in the fight against drugs.
