MONROVIA, Liberia — The Liberia National Police and AME University have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote professional development and academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The agreement, signed by Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman and AME University President the Rev. Dr. Alvin E. Attah, outlines joint efforts to strengthen law enforcement education and create opportunities for hands-on learning.
Under the memorandum, AME University will offer specialized academic and professional courses to police officers through its Department of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science. In return, the police will provide internship opportunities and potential career pathways for students enrolled in related programs.
Attah hailed the partnership as a significant step in bridging the gap between academia and law enforcement.
“As we strive to build and consolidate a culture of academic excellence and professional development here at AMEU, we consider moments like these as significant steps toward actualizing that goal,” he said.
Coleman praised the university’s commitment to the partnership and emphasized the importance of ongoing investment in police capacity.
“We will keep moving forward and exploring every possible opportunity for the professional advancement of our officers,” he said, describing the agreement as a win-win for both institutions. The collaboration is expected to launch training programs, internship placements and other capacity-building initiatives in the coming months.
