Monrovia — The Liberia National Police have arrested Mike Jabateh, the Assistant Minister for Urban Affairs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, at the entrance of Prime FM this Tuesday morning, following threats he made against Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah.
In a recent recording, Jabateh was heard threatening that the Liberian Government would kill Representative Kolubah if he did not stop insulting President Joseph Boakai. This shocking statement has led to widespread condemnation and urgent action from the authorities.
Representative Kolubah, who played a pivotal role in President Boakai’s victory over former President Weah in the 2023 elections, became a vocal critic of the President just days after the National Election Commission (NEC) announced Boakai’s victory in November 2023. Kolubah has since accused President Boakai of betraying the trust and confidence of the Liberian people.
Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman, speaking to Prime FM, confirmed the arrest of Assistant Minister Jabateh. He stated that Jabateh is being detained to answer inquiries regarding his threatening statements against the lawmaker.
Coleman emphasized that no one is above the law, and all citizens must be treated equally under the law.
