TORONTO — Liberia will seek Canadian partners and investment for its schools at an Oct. 28 roundtable in Toronto. Education Minister Jarso Maley Jallah will lead a government delegation.
The invitation-only Liberia-Canada Education, Investment and Partnership Roundtable will bring Liberian officials together with Canadian institutions, development partners and private companies. The Office of the Liberia Trade and Investment Commissioner in Canada announced the meeting.
Talks will cover school infrastructure, technical and vocational education, digital learning, teacher training, university partnerships and new ways to finance education. The aim is to find Canadian expertise, institutional partners and investment to support Liberia’s education sector and the government’s ARREST Agenda, the commissioner’s office said.
Jallah will lead a team of Ministry of Education officials. The delegation also includes Samuel A. Stevquoah, minister of state for presidential affairs and chief of staff to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, and Augustine Konneh, a senior adviser to the president.
Stevquoah may meet members of the Liberian community in Canada during the visit, the office said, though any such meeting is still to be confirmed. It asked the Federation of Liberian Associations in Canada, Liberian associations and community leaders across the provinces and territories to share the announcement. It stressed that the announcement is not an invitation to the roundtable itself.
