Monrovia — In a drive to strengthen football administration and empower women stakeholders, the Liberia Football Association (LFA), through its Women’s Football Department, on Tuesday launched a capacity-building workshop at the LFA headquarters in Congo Town.
The workshop, conducted under the FIFA-funded Women’s Football Capacity Building Initiative, will be held across seven counties — Montserrado, Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Maryland, Lofa, River Gee, and Grand Kru.
The initiative aims to enhance administrative and organizational capacity, increase participation in women’s football, and strengthen the skills of club administrators from the Upper, Lower, and Community Leagues, as well as Sub-Association officials. It also targets member association staff, connected personnel, and volunteers involved in women’s football development.
FIFA Women’s Football Technical Expert Thubaelihle Bridgette Sibanda is serving as the lead facilitator, alongside fellow FIFA expert Armel Azihar Sly-Vania.
The program focuses on administrators, coaches, players, and medical personnel from upper, lower, community, and sub-associations in the seven counties: Voinjama (Lofa County), Ganta (Nimba County), Zwedru (Grand Gedeh County), Fish Town (River Gee County), Harper (Maryland County), and Barclayville (Grand Kru County).
Giving an overview of the three-day seminar, LFA Acting Women’s Football Manager Aletha Massaquoi said the workshop, approved by FIFA in January 2025, is guided by Women’s Football Expert Doreen Nabwire.
“Out of seven proposed programs, six were approved, and today, October 7, 2025, we officially launch one of them,” Massaquoi said. “The initiative aims to strengthen administration, enhance participation, and build the operational capacity of women and stakeholders in football.”
She added that the program aligns with two key pillars of the Women’s Football Strategic Plan — Capacity Building (Empower Her) and Governance and Leadership (Inspire Greatness, Lead with Integrity).
On behalf of the Women’s Football Department, Massaquoi extended appreciation to FIFA, LFA President Mustapha Raji, the Executive Committee, and the staff of the Women’s Football Department for their support.
“We encourage all participants to make the most of this opportunity to grow and contribute to the advancement of women’s football,” she said. “Empower Her, Inspire Greatness.”
The activities officially kicked off Tuesday, Oct. 7, with the grand launch in Monrovia. The program will then move across Liberia as follows: Voinjama, Lofa County: Oct. 18, 2025; Ganta, Nimba County: Oct. 21–22, 2025; Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County: Oct. 25–26, 2025 and Fish Town, River Gee County: Oct. 29–30, 2025
Others are Harper, Maryland County: Nov. 3–6, 2025 and Barclayville, Grand Kru County: Nov. 7–9, 2025.
